The keystones of Scullin Dental Laboratory are brothers Ken and Lee Scullin, second generation dental technicians continuing a heritage of skillful craftsmanship and a culture of caring about you, your practice and your patients.
Both Ken and Lee entered the world of dentistry at an early age, working under the guidance of Joseph Scullin, their father. Their understanding of the needs of working dentists and their patients comes from a long period working as the in-office technicians for Drs. Richard Whelan, Carl Riemenschneider and Hudson Heidorf. In addition to having one of the most high profile dental practices of his day, Dr. Whelan was on the faculty of the Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry and served as President of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Heidorf was also a president of the Restorative Academy and was affiliated with the Dental Department of the Cleveland Clinic.
When the doctors split their practice, Ken & Lee moved the laboratory to Westlake and, on April Fools Day 1993, opened Scullin Dental Laboratory. They and their staff have been serving the needs of Northeast Ohio’s dentists and dental patients ever since.
Ken is the Master Ceramist of Scullin Dental Laboratory. Over the last two decades Ken has studied with the best ceramists in the world, both in lecture and intensive hands-on formats, learning tooth form, function, esthetics and the mechanics and artistry of ceramic application and color matching. Ken has studied Advanced Ceramics with Willi Geller, Jean Marc Ettiene, Naoki Aiba, Dr. Robert Winter and many others.
Ken learned about the philosophy of Patient Care from studying at the L. D. Pankey Institute For Dental Education. Ken and his wife Debbi have 2 grown children. Ken is a sports fan, a runner, and can usually be found tinkering around his house.
Lee specializes in the foundation aspects of Dental Technology. His prep work allows the ceramists to shine. Lee does the Diagnostic Waxing, framework design and manufacture that set the stage for the ceramics to follow. Lee is also Implant coordinator for Scullin Dental Laboratory. Lee has studied at the L. D. Pankey Institute For Dental Education and the Dawson Academy of Dental Education. He was certified by Northwest University in the restoration of Dental Implants and has presented programs on the Diagnostic Process at the Chicago Dental Society’s MidWinter Meeting and at the Southwest Dental Conference in Dallas, Texas. He presents often at local study clubs and meetings.
Lee and his wife Mary Cay have 2 grown children. Lee is an avid reader, a film snob, a good cook, a horrible golfer and a shy musician.
Pam worked with Lee & Ken in the dental office in downtown Cleveland and has been a part of Scullin Dental Laboratory from day one. She is the laboratory’s office manager and also handles scheduling and model fabrication duties. From August to January she and her husband are glued to professional and college football. The other months are spent riding their motorcycle and waiting for football season to start again.
Rachel has deep experience in all phases of Dental Technology and continues to work in all areas of the lab although her primary focus at this time is ceramics. She has been with Scullin Dental laboratory for 13 years.
Rachel and her husband are models of sustainablility; growing, canning and preserving much of their food and hunting anything that walks, crawls or flies.
